Virabhadra, the "Wrath of Shiva", was created from a lump of Shiva's hair to act as an agent of vengeance for his father. The Hindu gods gathered for a ritual, without inviting Shiva The Destroyer, or his wife, Sati, to participate, which was a great affront to the major god. Sati decided to participate in the ritual anyway and being bullied and mocked by the others, threw herself in the ritual's fire. When Shiva heard of this, he cried for vengeance and created Virabhadra to exact it, demanding the death of all the ritual's attendees.
